Elko Masonic Cemetery
Elko County
This section of the cemetery is divided between the Masons and the Odd Fellows. In several of the photos, you will see a pathway that divides the two sections. The Masons are on the right. The Odd Fellows are on the left. The Masonic section has hundreds of burials, so I really had to choose on the photos that I picked. I obviously went with the older stones. I also tried to use a representative sample of the different types of stones in this section. There are many stones here that are of the same design. The years have not been good to them. It appears that water damage is eroding the writing.
The Elko Masonic Lodge began holding meetings Under Dispensation in January of 1871. The lodge was officially given Charter in September of 1871. The Grand Master officially installed the officers of Elko Masonic Lodge #15 on November 3, 1871. Elko Lodge still meets to this day.
