Tuscarora Cemetery
Elko County
This is a large cemetery, considering the location. I had to limit the number of stones added here. There are many fraternal gravestones, to include the Masons and the Odd Fellows. The square and compasses represent the Masons. The three chainlinks represent the Odd Fellows. There are several grave sites that no longer contain a stone or marker. Several of these have ornaments relaying that the person buried here was a Mason or an Odd Fellow. There are stones inscribed with the W.F.M.. The miners union that was present in Tuscarora was the Western Federation of Miners. Graves here include early and prominent Nevada pioneers like O.L.C. Fairchild. Frank Teixeira, who was killed in the Rio Tinto Mine in 1936 with five other men, is also buried here.
